This Hissy Fit Bubble Up Breakfast Casserole has quickly become a family favorite. It has all the flavors of our favorite party dip in breakfast form. Sausage, muenster cheese, Velveeta, eggs, milk, Worcestershire, onion, garlic, and refrigerated biscuits. This is super simple to make and has TONS of great flavor! One bite and you will be blown away!

What does Bubble Up mean?

Bubble up refers to casseroles made with refrigerated biscuits. They bubble up when they are baked. I’ve made several bubble-up casseroles for the blog –pizza,white pizza, and even anenchilada bubble upcasserole. They are all fantastic.

How to Make Hissy Fit Breakfast Bubble Up

This biscuit breakfast casserole is very easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain excess grease. Cut refrigerated canned biscuits into quarters. Layer biscuits, cooked sausage, and shredded cheese in a baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. In a large bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Pour egg mixture over the sausage, shredded cheese, and biscuits and bake. Sprinkle the baked casserole with parsley and enjoy.

Helpful Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

  • I usedJimmy Dean Hot Sausage. Any brand of pork sausage will work fine.
  • Feel free to substituteturkey sausagefor a lower-calorie option.
  • I use two cans of the smaller 5-count(6-oz) can of biscuits. I did NOT use the bigger Grands! biscuits.
  • Can Bubble Up Breakfast Casserole be made in advance? Yes! You can assemble the casserole and refrigerate it overnight.
    • If I am making this for aweekday breakfast, I will cook the sausage and whisk up the eggs the night before. I store everything in the fridge overnight. I chop the biscuits, assemble the casserole first thing in the morning, and bake it. It works out great.
  • Can I freeze Bubble Up Breakfast Casserole?Yes! You can freeze the baked casserole and reheat it later. Bake the casserole and cool completely. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and aluminum foil. Place in thefreezer forup to 3 months.
    • To reheat the casserole, thaw completely. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350ºF for 30 to 45 minutes.
  • I usedshredded Velveeta cheese. I buy it at Walmart. You can also use a block of Velveeta and cut it into small squares.
  • I don’t like Velveeta. What can I use instead?You can use any cheeses that you prefer in this casserole. Cheddar cheese is a good substitute.

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF. Lightly spray a 9×13-inch pan with cooking spray.

  • In a large skillet, cook sausage until no longer pink. Drain excess grease.

  • Quarter biscuits and place in the bottom of the baking pan. Top with cooked sausage, Velveeta and muenster.

  • Whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Pour over cheese and biscuits.

  • Bake 35-45 minutes, until golden brown. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
